Published Description

Catalog text

This single degree program is composed of a selected combination of courses from the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences and the Department of Chemistry. Students complete this program in the Faculty of Science and must consult the Faculty Program Requirements. The program introduces students to the field of geochemistry while providing a firm basis in the principles of chemistry.

Program Notes

Catalog notes

Program notes

  • Students with Chemistry 11 and Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalents must take CHEM 091 before enrolling in CHEM 102. Students with Chemistry 12 and Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalents should not take CHEM 091.
  • Completion of a field school as an EOS elective is recommended. EOS 300 requires that EOS 202 be taken as an elective. EOS 401 requires three of EOS 311, 312, 313 or (314 or 431) be taken as electives.
  • Most 400-level EOS classes are offered in alternate years. A schedule of when each class is offered is available on the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences website.

Program Graph

Program requirements arranged by prerequisite flow.

The graph is driven by prerequisites from left to right (instead of year suggestions). The simplified view keeps the sequence readable while the full view is closer to the real data structure.

Simplified view: collapse recurring early-sequence options and keep the prerequisite flow readable.

Contact Hours

Per-term contact hours by published section.

Each row shows the regular-term average per term, with summer field courses broken out separately.

Regular-term figures are averaged across the published terms in each section. Electives are simplified to 3-0-0 at minimum and 3-3-0 at maximum, scaled to the published unit count. Open a row to inspect the named courses and assumptions.
